Mapping sequence structure in the human lateral entorhinal cortex

Remembering event sequences is central to episodic memory and presumably supported by the hippocampal-entorhinal region. We previously demonstrated that the hippocampus maps spatial and temporal distances between events encountered along a route …

Hippocampal-entorhinal codes for space, time and cognition How do we remember important events? Focusing on episodic memory, I explored the idea that coding principles discovered in spatial navigation research are shared across cognitive domains. The hippocampal-entorhinal region might support our memory through the mapping of cognitive spaces; allowing us to remember where and when events occurred. Cognitive maps stored in memory can guide behavior through the simulation of possible future trajectories.

Talk at CEMS 2019

I am excited to hear that will have the opportunity to give a talk at the 2019 edition of the Context and Episodic Memory Symposium.

Time is memory: Temporal relationships shape memories in the hippocampal-entorhinal region

The temporal organization of our experience is central to episodic memory, thought to be supported by the hippocampal-entorhinal region. The lateral entorhinal cortex (EC) carries temporal information in navigating rodents and its human homologue, …
